Melktertjies - A Shot of Heaven

Today the pretty Laura Jane from the beautiful blog Whimsy is Forever took the time to share this very cute, ahem and tasty recipe on my blog. She's a chemistry lady after all, oh yes, she recently graduated with her Masters Degree in Chemistry! You can read about her graduation here and while you're there read the 100 Things about her. Talk about beauty & brains. ;) Thank you so much Laura Jane, I'm so delighted to have you here. Here's her post.

Melktertjies are a South African shooter that are based on the traditional South African Melktert (a milky/custardy tart that’s topped with cinnamon). These shooters are incredibly easy to whip up, and are a great way to end a dinner party or a braai – it’s dessert in a glass, but with a serious kick!

All you need is three ingredients.
  1.  A tin of sweetened condensed milk
  2.  100 ml vodka
  3.  Some cinnamon

In a jug, mix together the tin of condensed milk with 100 ml of vodka until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Pour into shot glasses and top with a pinch of cinnamon!

Enjoy! ;)

Beauty Storage

I found this cute container at Pep Stores a while ago for R22.00. Let me tell you, I wanted to buy all of these delightful shades they had in store all for myself. ;) There were pale blue, lime green and this lovely baby-doll pink!
This is great for when you go on exotic travel destinations! I wish...
The smaller ones were around R10.00 each, so I ended up filling them with beauty products and earring studs, and then I gave them away as Christmas Presents to my mom, sis and cousins...
I made this one for my 8 year old little niece, well obviously she loved all those pretty bows, she totally adored her gift. Hello, a girl her age also have her little favourite things to to keep. ;)  I think this is something that they can use forever, don't you think?

A Vintage Fairytale

On the 22 of December 2012 our family celebrated the wedding of my darling aunt Cathy, themed "A Vintage Fairytale" She married her long-term boyfriend Vernon van Wyk in this beautiful landscape of the Kalahari. They chose this adventurous venue at Khamkirri on the northern bank of the Orange River near the Augrabies Falls. Our family had a blast of a time at this lovely place, having fun, just enjoying our time spend together.

We stayed at this venue for two days and then went to the Augrabies Falls. During our stay at Khamkirri we slept in tents among other, I loved the whole camping vibe! After the celebrations me and my silly cousins slipped to the lapa for bubbly galore until the wee hours of the night, fun memories... This was one of the best vacations ever, serene and fabulous all at the same time. Oh how I miss this place, did you spot me in our family picture? :) These beautiful pictures were taken by this awesome couple called Andre & Selma from Expressions Photography.

Before I Turn 29

I would really love to be able to achieve all of these before I turn 29 in September. 13 September that is... ;)

1. Buy a photo album. No need to explain really, point is I want it big and thick and I want the pages to turn yellow with time, I guess I want to flip through it once in a while and say, "that sure was fun!"

2. Learn to bake real cupcakes. Not those ready mixed ones. I mean that's not baking, what was I thinking, silly me! I've been buying those for a long time, decorating them and all, that is until I realised that any fool can do that. So now I plan to buy myself a lovely recipe book with decadent and dreamy desserts. Oh yum.

3. Send my novel to a publisher. I've been working on my first chick-lit, romance novel for almost a year now. And basically, sad to say I have writers block most of the time. I fell in love with the lead character, he's passionate and almost like a young Antonio Banderas, obviously then I got depressed because I want him all for myself. Until I realised what they always say, only in stories, only in the movies...

4. Get a higher paying job. I had to put that one in, and no I'm not the superficial, materialistic type. It's just that I want to start saving for my first child and I want everything to be in place when that happens, er maybe in three years time. That or no baby at all, ever...  A bit harsh I know.

5. Create my own painting. And hang it on my bedroom wall so that I can remind myself how creative and brilliant I am. ;)

6. Start a (fruit) garden. Since I was a little girl I always wanted my own garden, in fact I use to daydream about having brunch every Saturday morning, underneath a charming shady tree, smelling the flowers and just enjoying the beauty surrounding me.

7. Splurge on expensive leather boots. I want them dark brown and classy worn with leggings underneath all my pretty dresses although also very, very sexy with tight dark blue denims. Besotted with those from Polo.

8. Spoil my mother. I think I will spoil her with anti ageing creams and perfume, actually not sure yet but I really want to make her feel extravagant! She's worth that and so much more.

9. Learn to speak Italian. Don't know about that one, a bit unrealistic and out there, I think. Nevertheless it's on my list so we'll have to see.

10. Read my Bible from start to finish. Surely this will keep me busy for some time, but most of all inspired to achieve all my dreams and desires and so much more. Yay!

Relax Little Girly

Oh my word the weekend is here! ;) Yayyy! Well every week when I sit at my desk at work, I always daydream about how I can't wait for Friday and how I basically just want to come straight home, take a splash and then hop straight into bed and then drift into pure relaxation... However when the weekend eventually arrives I hop around all over the place, doing this and that, cleaning here and running there, that is until Monday morning, when my weekend daydream starts all over again.

But after one horrible week, wont go into the details, ok I will, I lost R1400.00 because I didn't update my residential details at bank, (use to live in Milnerton now I live in Kathu) that among other things that I really shouldn't mention, I actually did just that. I came home, took a splash and jumped straight into my cute new cupcake pj's from Mr Price and now I'm sitting here, beer in one hand, telling you my story...

And oh it feels so good, but I don't want to chat too long, because I made a promise to myself to just totally relax. Well maybe I'll just do one quick last flip through the latest issue of Destiny Magazine before I cover myself with, yes a blanket, I just can't sleep without or at least covering my feet... :) Oh and how I love the free Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick that came with the magazine, worth R150.00! Just love free goodies, don't we all. :) Hope you have a lovely weekend too.
