My Vision Board

To ad on to the whole kinda "personal development", "what gives me joy" blogpost theme/series, I've decided to create this Vision Board... Basically it speaks for itself, like all Vision Boards do. ;) You know the fact that I love food and wine but that I also seek beauty and simple pleasures. Its great to stare at this image that represent so many facets of me, knowing/seeing what I love and want from life. Readers that follow me on Twitter @Victoriafolksy - will know that I recently relocated to the beautiful Cape Town and therefore the lack of blogposts. My humble apologies. But yes, I'm here two weeks now and soo very excited to explore this beautiful, vibrant city. I can feel the thrill of excitement rushing through my body just thinking about it. ;) There's just so much that I want to do! The adventure continues.

10 Fave Things: Meghan Silva

My recent blogposts have all been about  what gives me joy, what things I like to eat and do, just basically everything that makes me happy... I believe that when you focus on positive things, knowing what you want from life and enjoying every moment of it, you will be a very happy person. Soo, the popular, beautiful lady Meghan Silva agreed to share her 10 Fave Things with us, things that gives her joy! She's the talented lifestyle blogger from Meghan Silva's Blog - one of my personal fave blogs out there. :) I particularly adore this recent creative post on her blog, for all the DIY lover's out there...   

1) I love fresh clean linen , nothing beats jumping into bed and everything smells like your favorite sta soft brand and your whole bedroom is filled with this just been spring cleaned aroma.

2) I adore my Claudia Stevens facial prep foundation base (primer) it leaves my skin so smooth and silky and who can resist that.

3)Wine is my drink of choice, Shiraz and Merlot being my favorite.

4) For the chillier season that we heading into bold or bright lips are my favorite fall makeup trend i'm talking berry tones and bright pink tones.

5) Spending time with my awesome and crazy family and friends is always a favorite in my life. 

6) Reading comments on my blog or sweet emails from readers and fellow bloggers is my favorite way to start the day everyone is so amazing.

7) Favorite series would have to be Fairly Legal, even though it has been cancelled I still watch the episodes I do have on repeat.

8) Favorite quote "Courage is an angel that makes the difference between a good life and a great life."

9) When its time to hit the sack I turn to my favorite bedtime drink Horlicks!

10) Pinterest still happens to be my favorite image sharing site.

Wow, what an amazing list Meghan... I love your choice of wine and I'm also all into the berry, bright lipstick tones, mmm we have a lot in common. ;)

Culinary Joys

We all have our favourite, favourites, right? Treats we just adore, old childhood besties like the colourful Smarties or the very fruity Rascals. Or Jelly Tots, Marmite on toast, Coco Pops... This list is really endless, I love candy and all things chocolaty, sooo here's just a few of mine... What's your fave snacks, please share and, um happy drooling. ;)

Vinolia Sandalwood

Totally adore this bewitching little soap. Not new on the market but truly, a vintage little gem, so to speak... ;) The packaging is just oh-so-cute! It really smells divine and I adore the calming effects of the exotic sandalwood. It lathers up nicely and leaves my skin soft and moisturised. About R12.00 at all major supermarkets...

Handmade Earrings

I've always loved being creative and I really adore cute handmade stuff... In the past I use to have a whole beading kit with the pliers and everything, I made lots of gifts for my friends and family but after a while I lost interest/got too busy with other things. So recently I found some beads that were just laying around my home, and decided to create these dangly cute earrings. I love the feel of beads between my fingers, the pretty colours and just the whole from nothing to something experience... :) It's really relaxing, therapeutic and also a great/cheap way to update your look. Would actually love to get more beads to create more pretty jewelry for myself. 

 I'm very happy about the end results. ;)

Do Not Fear

This post is a bit more personal than the usual ones... I don't even know where to start, a part of me do not want to share this in the fear that things might miraculously work out. OK, let me put it this way, I'm having a break-up. After 2 years and 5 months to be exact, I lost the Basil from Victoriabasil, there goes the title of my blog, eek! :( This came very sudden and I'm actually still in a lot of shock... This week I've been indulging in red wine and chocolates and I've been pouring my heart out to my mother and best friends. Thank God for them, they're so supportive.

I also totally fell in love with the blog Banana's Views, and I especially love this post... It's all about breaking up, relationships and life in general and it's a bit of a remedy to my broken heart. Obviously I'm still dealing with a lot of emotional questions, I mean how can you go from being into a long-term relationship to being alone and fragile... Does not make sense at all and I'm still totally shattered... At this moment I'm teary, bewildered and very fearful. Therefore I've compiled this little list, just to cheer me up, a teensy little bit and to express my inner feelings, for what its worth, in the hope to find healing soon. Here goes...

1. I will love again. (Big fat lie, I actually want to stay alone forever, I'm done with men!)
2. I will find someone that will seek adventure just like me... 
3. I will not become cynical and morbid.
4. I will be independent and successful on my own.
5. I will stay cheerful and I will not ask God, "why me?" ;)
6. I will not lay in the fetal position and hum quietly to myself...
7. I will not leave my home looking like a hobo, with dirty clothes and swollen eyes.
8. I will take good care of myself, knowing that everything will be alright. 
9. I will heal, all in good time.
10. I will have high hopes for the future again.
