This Gives Me Joy

I love the sun on my skin and the wind in my hair.
 I adore beautiful destinations. Breathtaking!
Sometimes I like to walk on the wild side, like on this wiggly bridge, eek! ;)
Using a peg holder as a toiletry bag? Why not, its just soo cute.
And after a stressful day this lifts my spirit! Gesundheit! ;)

At The Office

Here's a little sneak peek into my office, see the things I like and love, oh and my favourite lunch spot... Starting with my daily make-up regime...
Make-up: I tend to go for The Natural Look, with minimal makeup, freckled nose and all. Personally I like dark brown eyeliner and mascara as it creates a soft velvety look and depending on your features I think this might actually take years of your age. I do like some shimmer on my eyelids but I also hate looking oily, though my olive skin really likes to play these kinda tricks on me.

So this past week I've started to use my Garnier BB cream on its own, meaning I slap it on right after I washed my face, with desirable results! I have this red Avon lipstick, from their Little Red Dress collection, I bought it some time ago and now, well I'm afraid of it. Haha, it's just soooo red. Anyway I've been using it as a lip tint, I just dab a teensy bit on my finger and then apply it to my lips and then afterwards to my cheeks to create this rosy flushed look. Finished of with pressed powder for a dewy yet shine-free appearance.

Hair: I always wear a fringe to hide all the fine lines on my forehead, that um and other gross things... Hey I'm turning 29 this year and I can't afford botox so other tricks will have to do... ;) My own hair is this ugly mousy colour so I just spice it up with some golden hues. And then mostly I just wear it like this. Believe me this dishevelled textured shaggy look just happens, I've tried to tame it down, but now I just let it do its own thing. I try to think of it as the Alexa Chung affect! :)
Wardrobe: I don't have work clothes and going out clothes, ( besides my delightful collection of old faded jeans ) I just wear what I have and that's it. I have a lot of  skirts and dresses actually, I love them cute and pretty and with the changing season I've just added thick leggings and boots to go with that. I team them up with cardigans, this denim shirt or my favourite leather jacket.

When I wear formal pants, usually black, with my existing cardigans, denim shirt or leather jacket, I like to add a scarf  like this. I have loads of scarves, and other accessories like bangles and dangly earrings to ad more colour and to finish my overall look.
My Desk: Between all the appointments and phone calls I try to nibble on my favourite health snack, ( drum roll ) super food goji berries. I really love them, far better then any multi vitamin in my opinion. I keep them in a glass container close by and munch on them throughout the day between slurps of black coffee. I also scribble simultaneously in my office dairy and my personal little black book. You know dreams and goals, dinner plans and all that other random stuff. And I try to keep things orderly in this pink stationary container, I know many bloggers are actually using this cute drawer container for their beauty products. Well maybe I should just take this one home. ;)

I also keep my lip balm of choice, the fruity flavoured Zam Buk - Cherry or Lip Ice - Pina Colada within reach along with my Avon, Aspire hand cream to get rid of dry crocodile hands. I adore the smell of this cream, also it's a gift from my mother and we don't see each other that much so I like to keep her close this way.
Office Look: You'll find a lot of vintage inspired things in my office like this adorable Clipper typewriter. Something I would love in my own home.
On an old vintage school case, or these stunning cloth-bind books.
And this very pretty wall art.
Lunch break - Now this is my favourite, favourite! ;) My one-o-clock spot... Here I sit and relax, contemplate and of course eat. Although I live just 10 minutes away from work, I sometimes prefer to sit in this magical garden right here at the office...

Introverts Unite

I came across the great blogpost where they actually celebrate and embrace the introverted personality... Yay! They describe it soo well... "Introversion is a character trait of someone who is thoughtful. Someone who is quiet. Someone who is introspective. Not necessarily shy - although they may be - introverts crave solitude and time to reflect. Unlike our extroverted counterparts who are so celebrated in today’s culture, introverts don’t need to be constantly occupied and entertained. We have existed and thrived this way pretty much since the dawn of humanity. But for some reason, we are so often perceived as people who need to be worked on, brought out of our shells, because of this trait that is inherent to who we are as people. " - Cassie Paton.

I'm an introvert, have always been this way, but somehow I've always felt that I needed to change to please others. Almost like I had to be different. I think introverts are misunderstood in many ways... So I've compiled this list, stating that just because I'm an introvert it doesn't mean...
  • I want to be an extrovert.
  • I'm a snob...
  • I'm a hobbit. Haha, had to put that in.
  • That I like to read all day... Although I love reading, you know what they say about a well read woman, she's a dangerous creature. :)
  • That I don't like having fun, in fact I'm very adventurous. ( See the name of my blog. )
  • That I'm mad at you... I just respect your personal space, like I assume you respect mine...
  • That I don't like to get tipsy and dance the night away. I'm a very good dancer.
  • That I'm stupid...
  • That I don't have a great life. I love exploring new things, I have a lot of fun hobbies and I have some very good friends. And a loving boyfriend called Basil. ;) I love being an introvert, I love being me.

"Many people believe that
introversion is about being antisocial, and that’s really a misperception. Because actually it’s just that introverts are differently social. So they would prefer to have a glass of wine with a close friend as opposed to going to a loud party full of strangers." - Susan Cain

PONDS - Colour Palette

Today I'm taking inspiration from the  PONDS Colour Palette Pinterest Board. Also take a look at their Bloggers and Websites Pinboard, oh and of course their Blog of the Month pins. I really adore all their Pinterest pins. Well then, I just had to share these with you, my colour inspiration...

Cinnamon Blush reminds me of...
  • When I saw that tree I was immediately reminded of the Kalahari and Kathu the place which I'm currently calling home. A year ago me and my boyfriend were basically forced to seek jobs this side due to the economic situation that side, we're both from Springbok in the Northern Cape but over the years I've travelled around the country and lived in the city, you can read my post about when I was younger, so I'm not a typical farm-girl, (nothing wrong with that, just saying) although my roots will always be there. I grew up with rustic landscapes surrounding me, as far as the eye can see, bare-feet running wild in the fields, exploring the mountains close-by. I guess that's why I love adventure so much. And I think this lovely shade of Cinnamon Blush will always remind me of that.
  • Lovely sunsets, and the peaceful feeling you get while looking at God's work.
  • My natural tanned skin in summer, the season I love most.
  • A cup of delicious hot chocolate on a rainy day.
  • Luxury leather boots. I recently bought a pair from Truworths that I love, love, love and it's the one thing that I can tick of my list... I made a list of things to do before I turn 29.

Lightning Pink reminds me of...
  • All things pretty and girly. I love lip colours in this lovely shade, it just ads some pop to my overall look.
  • It also reminds me of soft and comfy jerseys, looking cute and sweet.
  • Barbie dolls and how I used to play with them until an age I'd rather not mention. Remember the pink lips, shoes, dress, handbag and what not, that sure was a lot of Lightning Pink!
  • Strawberry flavoured yogurt and ice-cream both equally delicious.
  • And I adore pink flowers, it ads delight to any room, making me feel cherished and oh-so-spoiled.

Mint Chip reminds me of...
  • Aromatic ripe avo's, always delicious with black pepper on scrumptious sandwiches, as dips or just like that.
  • Yummy Mojito's laying under a tree. Check out my Island Dreams post, now that's some serious daydreaming that...
  • Minty tea, my grandma use to drink it like that and I use to make it for her as we had this huge mint patch at our front door.
  • Greek Salads. Mmmm.
  • Pepper mint chocolate, as a young girl I use to hate it but now I just totally indulge in this flavour.
  • Namaqualand in Springtime, so magical you just have experience it for yourself...

Just Peachy reminds me of...
  • The pretty shade of Just Peachy reminds me of blushing cheeks and young dewy, lust-after skin.
  • It also reminds me of the only other human skin colour in a crayon box, when I grew up it was either that or brown.
  • This pretty colour is also a reminder of soft, delicate underwear, of those a girl can never have enough...
  • And on a hot summer's afternoon I always welcome a refreshing glass of bubbly Brutal Fruit Peach.
  • Oh and Rum & Raisin Ice-cream, delicious!
What's your favourite colours, and what do they remind you of? Let me know. xoxo

Cute Little Fella

I first saw this cute little cat on Truchen Vorndran's blog, Jasmin on Jupitershe's a real cat lover. And these sweet paintings are done by the talented artist Heather Mattoon, so creative! Funny, I don't really like cats but this handsome fella just stole my heart. ;)

Chunky Monkey

Never mind the name of this post. :) I just had to share this lovely fur lined beanie from Ginger Mary bought at Truworths for R160.00. Well I've never paid this much for any head gear, especially not a beanie, nevertheless it's all worth it. I adore the kaleidoscope of colours, the chunky knit and the fur lined inside, just where your ears go! I like. ;) Guaranteed to keep me warm throughout the winter. I just love it! I also bought a pair of leather booties from their Ginger Mary range, but more about them some other time. What's your winter essentials?

BB Cream Bandwagon

BB (Beauty Balm) cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturiser, primer, foundation, and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturiser, over serum and moisturiser or as a regular foundation depending on the desired amount of coverage. Sounds like a "miracle" cream! But to find the perfect one, aah that's a different story... ;)
Variety of BB Creams

The only BB cream I've used so far is the one from Garnier...  And I find it a bit too oily for my combination skin, I always have to use pressed powder with it, throughout the day to reduce shine on my T-zone. However with the winter nearing, my skin tends to get dryer, meaning Garnier might do the trick after all, being my bestie this winter. ;) But with that being said, I will not buy it again, I'm actually opting for the 9-in-1 BB cream from Rimmel. Hoping it's a keeper!
The latest from Rimmel R99.95
Lusting after the, All-in-one BB cream from The Body Shop R180.00

With so much on the market it can be a bit difficult finding the perfect one. I guess I need something that's less oily or better yet, maybe I should ask myself: Do I need a BB cream or should I stick to good old, long-wear foundation? ;)What BB cream are you using and will you repurchase it? Please share.
