Introverts Unite

I came across the great blogpost where they actually celebrate and embrace the introverted personality... Yay! They describe it soo well... "Introversion is a character trait of someone who is thoughtful. Someone who is quiet. Someone who is introspective. Not necessarily shy - although they may be - introverts crave solitude and time to reflect. Unlike our extroverted counterparts who are so celebrated in today’s culture, introverts don’t need to be constantly occupied and entertained. We have existed and thrived this way pretty much since the dawn of humanity. But for some reason, we are so often perceived as people who need to be worked on, brought out of our shells, because of this trait that is inherent to who we are as people. " - Cassie Paton.

I'm an introvert, have always been this way, but somehow I've always felt that I needed to change to please others. Almost like I had to be different. I think introverts are misunderstood in many ways... So I've compiled this list, stating that just because I'm an introvert it doesn't mean...
  • I want to be an extrovert.
  • I'm a snob...
  • I'm a hobbit. Haha, had to put that in.
  • That I like to read all day... Although I love reading, you know what they say about a well read woman, she's a dangerous creature. :)
  • That I don't like having fun, in fact I'm very adventurous. ( See the name of my blog. )
  • That I'm mad at you... I just respect your personal space, like I assume you respect mine...
  • That I don't like to get tipsy and dance the night away. I'm a very good dancer.
  • That I'm stupid...
  • That I don't have a great life. I love exploring new things, I have a lot of fun hobbies and I have some very good friends. And a loving boyfriend called Basil. ;) I love being an introvert, I love being me.

"Many people believe that
introversion is about being antisocial, and that’s really a misperception. Because actually it’s just that introverts are differently social. So they would prefer to have a glass of wine with a close friend as opposed to going to a loud party full of strangers." - Susan Cain

  5. I love this post and I definitely am an introvert as well even though I socialise a lot! I still crave solitude and time to reflect. And just because I am loud at times doesn't mean I am an extrovert, there's so much going on in my head ALL. THE. TIME. :) Yay, fellow introvert.

  6. I can definitely relate to this post! I thought I would eventually outgrow my 'shyness' but I always find it lurking in the background even at my most confident moment. And to top it off, all my friends are extroverts and although I love them wholeheartedly, it can be a bit intimidating at times. Glad to know I'm not the only one who's often been called the 'quiet type'...lol
